Calus Resplendant (C.R)
|back
All encounters for this Pantheon segment are the exact same as they were before they were added to the DCV, with that being said, there are optional modifiers that can be added called feats. Upto 5-6 I believe? Either way, I have played with a total of 3-4 of them, and they don't change the encounters in many meaningful ways other than making the adds a bit tougher, and adding specific shields that can only be broken under specific conditions such as melee hits, and by shooting drones.
Something to keep in mind!
Encounter 1: Eater of Dirt
Argos, Planetary Core is a legitimate pushover, the map below is what I will be referencing, note that the start spot is incorrect as the map is made for the original version of the raid, the new start position is behind the arc section.
This encounter is simple, 3 groups of 2 go to each "island" (Void, Arc, and Solar). There are 2 roles:
- Add clear
- Vex chef
Add clear is simple, kill stuff, and wait for callouts + DPS, the Vex chef will kill a Vex Hobgoblin that will drop a Cranium, that is then taken to the respective plate to "cook".
Let's dooooou itttt
To begin the encounter, shoot the middle platform's Vex cores to spawn in Arcos, clear adds, yada yada
Now, one of the 3 sides will have the callouts for the team, either Arc, Void, or Solar.
In the example above, Arc has the callouts! We will require Cooked Vex Craniums from the Solar, and Arc sides.
"But wait!! What about Void?"
You see how theres 2 solar orbs? Void is now going to solar to cook!
This encounter phase will require 2 Solar craniums, and 1 Arc cranium. Kill Hobgoblins, cook the craniums at the respective side based on the callouts. And gather at the side that the callouts are facing (example above is at the Arc plate)
Now that 2 Solar Craniums, and 1 Arc have been brought to the Arc side by their Chefs, count down from 3, and shoot the respective orbs based on element type, and drag towards the middle of the diamond (circle area)
Assuming all is done right, you will now initiate a DPS phase. Jump up on the platforms and shoot the weakpoints (white, glowing spots after Arcos is done moving) in THIS ORDER ONLY
- Arms (in front)
- Head (on top)
- Back (on... the back :o )
My recommendation for DPS is to use precision weapons, and burst DPS supers, other than that, rinse and repeat until he's dead!
Encounter 2: Gahlstone
"Tarrabah deserves a catalyst" - A wise man sometime in 2021, before changing his name to iTarrabahCatalyst
Coincidentally, the catalyst was added with Monument of Triumph! YIPPIE
Gahlrahn is an encounter that sounds complicated, but is really easy once you get the rotations down.
Split into 3 groups of 2, each of them are going to the corners of the pyramid diagram below:
The diagram is from the old version of the encounter for the original raid, so we can ignore the whole flame pillar and flame wall part, but the lay out is the same regardless.
Each group will start out below their steps (going above the steps starts the encounter), choose 1 person from each team to stand in the Witch's blessing circle (spawns north of the flame pillar on the diagram).
This buff is what is used to progress the encounter, and will need to be swapped every minute to the other person on your team, conventianally you swap it via. the purple points on the diagram above (Generally, you go to the left of your area, so Gahlran's group moves to the swap orb in the direction of the purple team, purple goes to dog, and dog to gahlran every time)
In the event that a player is to lose their buff for any reason, a player from another team can shoot the buff orb while 1 player from the team that is missing it stands within it shooting it as well. This will effectively duplicate the buff from among those that already have it. It is NOT a tranfer of it from the other team.
The buff will allow the carrier to kill certain adds that spawn in the arena, progressing the encounter. These adds will have a shield that only the wielder of the Witch's blessing can shoot through to damage them.
After a few swaps of the buff, one of the 3 teams (it is random every time) will have a mini Gahlran with a big bubble spawn into their area. At this time, both players from the area will run upto him, and melee him. Keep in mind that this should ONLY be done, while he is within the upper part of your corners platform (above the stairs). If this is done correctly, Gahlran's (the big one in the section) right hand will glow green. Once show with enough precision damage, he will swing a massive Cabal axe down onto mini Gahlran, killing him, and spawning a new one in the next corner of the map. At this point, the team(s) that have killed their mini Gahlrans can chill while waiting for the other teams to finish their killing.
Once all 3 teams have killed their mini Gahlrans, the encounter will progress to initiating the boss DPS phase. To do so, all 3 teams must do the following:
All the big Gahlrans will begein to raise their hands, both people on each side will shoot his left and right hands until they are no longer glowing. Once they have been hit successfully, both players must hit his forehead to reveal which Gahlran the team is to do DPS at. Once your Gahlran is revealed (I.E all weakpoints shot, and he either fizzles out of existence, or stays put like a good boy) you can also assist other teams that may be lagging behind by shooting their Gahlran's weak points.
Once the real Gahlran is revealed, the team can stack up in that section of the map (DPS is usually at the top of the stairs, easiest to hit him there). To start DPS, Gahlran will begin to raise his hands again. Shoot them, once they are no longer glowing, go HAM on his forehead until he begins to raise his hands again. Each time that you destroy his hands, you get another DPS phase, upto a maximum of 3 per time doing the phase. After the 3rd DPS phase is done, the 3 initial players to pick up the Witch's blessing buff will do so again, and rinse and repeat the encounter until Gahlran is dead.
Encounter 3: Calus (again)
This dude hasn't changed literally at all btw.
We will use the map below for callouts, the main boss room is on the left, the "shadow realm" is on the right
Calus relies on the work of 3 roles:
- Shadow realm dwellers (3 players)
- Psion killer (1 player)
- Add clear (2 players)
To start the encounter, shoot the cup from Calus' hand. He will spawn a bunch of Cabal from various doors around the room, and EVENTUALLY he will clap his hands, and teleport the whole team to the shadow realm.
At the point, all players except the 3 that are NOT Shadow Realm Dwellers will run over the transparent barrier towards the glowing orbs to be teleported back to the main area.
Once they are gone (or if they eff it up somehow) Calus will begin sucking (pause?) the Shadow realm dwellers towards the barriers. It is imparative that you do NOT jump over these as dwellers, as doing so without progressing will result in your almost imediate death.
Once the sucking starts (pause?) Calus will display a symbol on his forehead (Either Cup, Axes, Dog, or Sun) all 3 players will take turns saying their symbol. There will 3 different ones, and one that is missing from the callouts. The Psion killer in the main boss room will need to punch the Psion that is enveloped in a bubble on the plate that is NOT apart of the callouts
I.E, if the callouts are Dog, Axes, and Sun, the Psion killer will punch the Cup psion to spawn a new barrier to save the Shadow realm dwellers.
At the same time, the dwellers are to shoot ANY adds that pop up, no sparing civilians.
This is done multiple times until the end of the area in the shadow realm. Where Calus will begin to throw up purple Calus babies after he is done sucking you... Okay yeah that description is on me...
The people in the main boss room will hold off on shooting Calus (as he has a damageable shield once the babies start spawning) until the dwellers have killed ~100 babies total. The reason being that the number of babies killed directly scales with your DPS output during the DPS phase, so more is 100% better!
Once ~100 babies are killed, Calus' shield can be broken and the dwellers need to run like hell towards their glowing orbs to be teleported back to the main arena.
Once all players are at the main arena, you will start the DPS phase by counting down from 3 and jumping on the SUN plate. This will allow you to shoot Calus for an extended period of time. Once he is invincible, hop off the plate of he will kill you with a cool rocket attack. Now, rotate clockwise to the next plate (Sun -> Dog -> Axe -> Cup) counting down, DPSing, and dwindling his health until he enters final stand.
Final stand is a mad dash of damage to kill Calus once and for all (or until he is uploaded into a new robot body as seen below this arena). If he is NOT killed within the 4 plates of the first phase, repeat the process. If he is, you did your first run of many through the new version of Pantheon, go get that Tarrabah baby!
